This page is dedicated to the Life of
John Thomas Gittelson.

John Thomas Gittelson was born on July 15, 1978 to Debra and George Gittelson in Oxnard, CA. We lived in Oxnard until July 1985 and moved to Milpitas, Ca. He attended Sunshine Christian School, Milpitas Christian School, Rancho Milpitas Jr. High and Milpitas H.S. In Feburary 1994 we moved to San Diego, Ca where John attended Carmel Mountain H.S. where he finished his sophomore year.

John loved all sports, however, the love of his life was baseball. He was voted to the Milpitas South All Star Team in 1990. He also played soccer and loved playing golf with his Dad.

John had corrective surgery on his leg one year. Total time from surgery to complete use of his leg was about one year. He could not play baseball that year, but he asked me to take him by the practice field where he knew his coach and team mates were. After arriving the coach told us that he wished John was playing and that he also needed a score keeper (I usually kept score) for the team. John told the coach that he would come to the games and keep score for the team until one of the other parents could learn to do it.

John was a compassionate person even from a very early age. When he was attending pre-school the teacher came to me one day when I went to pick him up to tell me what he had done that day. It seems that they had a new little girl being dropped off for the first time and she was upset and crying for her Mom not to leave her. John walked over to the little girl and took her hand. He asked her to come play with him and told her that it was okay and not to cry. The teacher said she had never seen a child do that before.

At Christmas John made a list of what he wanted from Santa like all children. This was put in a little mailbox ornament on the tree. And in the morning John would find a note from Santa in the box in place of his note. The last Christmas he was with us his note was not for things like games, clothes etc but was a request for Santa to help the homeless and less fortunate in the world instead.

John was an avid reader and was finishing a "Tale of Two Cities" when he passed.

Sadly to say John passed over on July 6, 1994 just nine days from his 16th birthday. He loved swimming, laughing, but most of all he enjoied life.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Loved forever until we meet again.
